In the News

Joan Vennochi has a very interesting column about women and the federal health care bill in the Boston Globe today. The first two lines sum up her thoughts pretty well: "Women must always fight to make sure they are not thrown under the political bus. The latest example is health care reform."

The Women for Coakley Web site also has an interesting speech by Evelyn Murphy, which is a great read. Murphy talks about the fact that the language the press uses regarding candidates on the subject of toughness and strength holds them up to stereotypical male standards, and that women are every bit as strong, just in different ways.

As always, these stories show exactly how important it is for us to continue our mission at MWPC to make sure the voices of women are heard in the political dialogue.
